Welcome to EANA 2023

This is the first meeting after the Covid-19 pandemic, which will be only presential after two years exclusively in virtual mode. And after 20 years we meet again in Madrid, an international city with an interesting history and glamour. This workshop will connect the European Astrobiology community and the Space community in general (technical and scientific fields), with a vivid and interactive programme for 3 and a half days, from 19th to 22nd September 2023.

The meeting will consist of selected keynote presentations, a live panel discussion, our well-known Space Factor student contest, as well as poster presentations.

EANA 2023 is organized by the Local Organizing Committee (R. de la Torre, Jesus Martínez-Frías, Leopoldo Ga Sancho, Victor Parro, Maria Rosa López, Eva Mateo-Martí, Marina Díaz Michelena, and by the Organizing Committee EANA Executive Board. For any questions, please don't hesitate to contact us via eana-web (at) eana-net.eu.

EANA Space Factor contest

If you are a student or early career scientist, EANA encourages you to apply for the Space Factor student contest. This contest is a great opportunity for you to present your research to the European Astrobiology community. It gives you the chance to get to know other students in the field; to gain new insights and ideas; to establish new contacts and to develop your own astrobiology network.

In this year’s Space Factor students contest, around 10 selected students and early-career researchers will have the chance to present their research to the Astrobiology community, demonstrating their science communication skills toward a multi-disciplinary audience. Each participant will have 6 min total for their presentation (+ 3 to 4 min questions). The presentation will consist of 3 min live talking + 3-min video (as a creative and original part of their presentation, that should work as a valuable aid in communicating the science). The 3-min video can be inserted however the participant prefers (e.g. in the beginning, middle or end of the presentation). A judge panel consisting of ~5 interdisciplinary experts will evaluate the contributions of all participants according to pre-established criteria (e.g. communication skills, quality of research, etc.). Award certificates and monetary prizes will be granted by EANA to the 3 best presentations. More detailed information will follow after the participants are selected.

Application deadline15 June 2023, 13:00 CEST

More information on the Space Factor contest including application procedure can be found on the internal EANA 2023 website.
