Contribution of the WISDOM Radar to the Rosalind Franklin Rover mission

WISDOM is a ground-penetrating radar specifically developed for the objectives of the Rosalind Franklin rover mission, whose primary goal is to investigate the Martian subsurface in search of evidence of past life. The instrument is designed to characterize the shallow subsurface along the rover traverse, providing detailed information on geological structures, detecting and identifying buried formations, and supporting the selection of safe and scientifically valuable sites for subsurface drilling and sampling.

This presentation will highlight the unique capabilities of WISDOM as a polarimetric radar, as well as the critical role of advanced signal-processing techniques and precise instrument calibration. Together, these elements are essential for extracting quantitative information from the radar measurements and maximizing the scientific return of the data that will be acquired on Mars.
